Courtship: A Deeper Connection

What I've found along the Way that lines up with my intentions and purpose concerning courtship and marriage:

All are excerpts from this article I'm reading: http://www.boundless.org/2005/answers/a0002415.cfm by John Thomas of Boundless.org.

To love is not to share all the same interests, but it is to value those the other person has.

If marriage is anything, it is a deep-level connection. ... Connecting at deeper levels develops over time as trust grows and as an individual feels they are in a safe place to share at that level.

Enjoying one another’s company is a great starting place for any relationship and obviously a requirement, but we can only talk about the weather for so long.

Conversations that touch at the level of emotions, ranging from joy to pain, are the ones that create heart connection.

Remember what you’re doing: First, you’re trying to discern whether you’re in unity on core values and second, whether you can connect at the level of emotions.

Enter With Your Eyes Open!: Courtship, Marriage & Covenant

An excerpt from "Reversing the Marriage Implosion: The Covenant" by Dr. Robert Reccord, http://www.believe.com/articles/Relationships/Reversing-the-Marriage-Implosion-The-Covenant/

Enter With Your Eyes Open!

As marriages hurtle into the future before them, we must remind every couple to keep their eyes open for the needs and fears of the other. A wise, seasoned counselor told me years ago that the greatest need of women is security, and her greatest fear is insecurity. Conversely, the greatest need of a man is adequacy, and his greatest fear, inadequacy. If only my wife and I had been told this before we got married, not years later!

Within every wife, there is a little girl craving to hear that she is pretty, valued, treasured and loved. She can handle multiple moves, shaky finances, job difficulties and worse as long as she is relationally secure with her man. Every husband longs to hear, “I’m proud of you because…” He yearns to know he is adequate in his leadership. In conference after conference, women sit stunned when my wife asks men to lower their head and raise their hand on what they would prefer to hear from their wife: “I love you,” or “I’m proud of you.” “I’m proud of you” wins hands down (or up in this case). Even the makers of Viagra and Calais understand a man’s passionate desire to be adequate!

So, what implosions might be avoided if every couple walking toward the altar were clearly guided on the foundational need/fear of their potential mate? It would so clearly show how our IEDs (improvised explosive devices) of words and actions within marriage can rupture the infrastructure of our relationships and bring our homes crashing in around us.

Maybe right now is a good time for you to assess yourself and the needs of the loved one in your life. What do you see that you might not have seen before? What are you going to do about it?

Saturday Songday #6

♫ ♪ Hosanna by Hillsong ♫ ♪

I really fell for this song. Every song I post is something special. Get to know these lyrics. "Hosanna" is a Greek word from Hebrew, which means "oh save!" Hosanna is an exclamation of adoration. It's most prevalent references are in Matthew 21:9 and Mark 11:10.

Matthew 21:9
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

Mark 11:10
Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

I see the King of Glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes
The whole earth shakes

I see His love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing
The people sing

[Chorus]
Hosanna
Hosanna
Hosanna in the Highest [x2]

I see a generation
Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith
With selfless faith

I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We're on our knees
We're on our knees

[Chorus]

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your kingdoms cause
As I walk from Earth into
Eternity

4.54 a.m.

Good morning. These photos are from June of last year when our family took a trip to Myrtle Beach. I remember waking up to this beautiful sunrise over the ocean. It was around 5am. It was so incredibly beautiful, I do not believe I will forget this day. I remember going on the balcony with a cup of coffee, my Bible, and my cell phone. I took pictures of the sunrise with my camera phone, the photos you are seeing now. I also sent tweets to Twitter regarding everything that was unfolding before my eyes.

There were these two beams of sunlight shooting down from clouds covering the sun, it was almost miraculous it was so beautiful. You can barely see the two sun rays on this photo, but they are on the far left. Then the two sunbeams evolved into four. It was really special.

A Beacon of Light

It's like, do you know what a beacon of light is? It is an angel. Why do you think people use light for healing powers? They are manipulating the energy in the atmosphere for their own benefit. It is counterfeit.

However,

I say that people are outrageous because [this was the title of this post, but I have modified it for the sake of the sensitive], I was watching the guiding angels segment on the old Discovery Health Channel (new Oprah Winfrey Network) and they had this story where the outline of an angel appeared in the doorway of this little girls hospital room who was about to be taken off life support. The cameras captured the image. The trick to this show is that there was one skeptic, and one believer who were the main constituents of this television program. The girl was a scientist who was set on proving her hypothesis, so they had a professional video expert come in and re-create the image of the light that was captured on the camera.

Glory Day

Greetings,

Today is just one of those days. One of those days that makes you feel glad to be alive. Glad to know Jesus. Sincerest, I can only smile and relish in the glory days of our Lord.
God inspires his children to dream big about the future. Such inspiration comes from the Spirit who shows you what is to come (John 16:13). via Twitter
I was in my car just the other day and a song I hadn't heard in a while came upon the CD player. I tried not to weep in the car because everyone would see me in broad daylight crying behind the wheel. It was, "The Blood of Jesus." And I think, "God You are so right. So much could have happened to me. The reports on the news lately, all of the deadly happenings. Bless You GOD." I cry because I am protected. I cry because I know my God will not allow anything to happen to me. I cry because my total trust is in Him. His promise is embedded within me. Glory.

Glory.
Glory.

"and God talked with him"

That's all I really want. Is for God to talk with me. With the season I'm in and the books I've been reading, and the shows I've come across, the name "God" has become so impersonal. I am glad that the true children of God know Him by His holy names, that way we can feel closer to Him and it truly does put things in perspective. People can blaspheme, abuse the name of "God" all they want, of course I do not approve, but I know Him through the fullness of His name. Amen.

The other evening I was reading my Bible, flipping through like I normally do and ended up at Genesis. I was glad I ended up at Genesis because I wasn't in a "psalms" or "proverbs," or even "new testament" mood.

Genesis 17:1-5,

1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

4As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

When I read verse 3, "And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying," I knew I had my next blog post. This is my life's desire. To worship GOD and have Him "talk with me." Sigh, it makes me smile ever so slightly and fills my entire being with joyfulness. The fullness of GOD my God. To have Him know you by name and even change your name to meet His holiness (see v. 5).

I knew I had found the core of my life in this very verse. All I have been saying for more than a year now: "I just want to love God." Loving Him is to worship Him and to worship Him is to obey His commands ("and be thou perfect," v. 1), and to delight in them.

I am so glad I got to blog this. Bless you all much this great day and this holiday season.

Best,
Whitney

Status Update #7, "A Season of Remembrance"

Good morning!,

Great day today, you guys. Hope you're all getting a great start on this day. Just popping in to give a short status update. It's been about two weeks since my last post, and a little longer since a substantial post. The Lord has shown me that right now I am in a season of remembrance, so I've been quiet.

Quiet trying to figure out what was going on right now, and now knowing, I came to share. July was a phenomenal month for me and God. Lots of wonderful journaling and time spent with Him, lots of special time and things revealed. All three of my books were born during that month, so that was incredibly monumental.

Exodus 13:21, A Thousand Words Thursday #11

The great things we find on Tumblr.
A glimpse of what Exodus 13:21 may have resembled,

Exodus 13:21

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

How do you encourage yourself?

The question is not, how do you keep on? Or, what do you have to live for, or why haven't you given up; because I know you're not going to give up. Why? Because you know too much. So. The question is, How do you encourage yourself?

I encourage myself by recounting the dreams and visions He has gave me. I encourage myself by remembering the events that occurred while I was considering the LORD. Like, the time I asked Him aloud how I could be close to Him-- my heart was distraught. I looked out my window that dark and quiet night, and saw one streak of lightning in the sky. I cried silently and went back to my room. And, the week I was anointed with the Holy Ghost. The audible voice of God that I heard that week. I said aloud, "Really?," asking God whenever I spoke aloud "to myself," was I really speaking to Him? and He answered through the voice of my sleeping Dad in the next room, "Yes, Really." I encourage myself because of the gift of tongues. Knowing that not all have been given this, and how earnestly we all want it deep down.

So again my question is.
How do you encourage yourself?

Keep me Father. Your strength is my own.

Your beloved,
Whitney

Visions of the Lord's Day

Good morning! I was GLAD when they said unto me, 'Let us Go into the house of the LORD!' How are you all this day? I made a vow to the tweets on Twitter that I would share online, the visions that the Lord gave me. This will be Good. This IS Good. This is Good because the Lord gave it to me and I feel so special that He did.

Here are the exact/very similar (in order to make it read well) words from my "dream journal," the very day that it happened. Please do not be put off too much by my use of the words "visions" and "dreams." I am not a prophetess (to my knowledge), but I am a woman of God. Who knows God and who hears from Him/can recognize His voice.

And these visions were so extravagant, and I was there. I felt like I was there. Like, smack-dab in the middle of it. Real-life "I was there." I am not well-versed in the terminology that saints use to describe "when they were IN the Spirit," so this is my best attempt to do so. God was able to develop the first dream/vision with me over time. Throughout my Bible studies with Him, I would be able to pick up on what related to the dream/vision and what was for that day.

Holiness and Snow-Capped Mountains

This photo made me think of "holiness." It's so lovely. Doesn't it look like holiness to you? ..If I had a vision of holiness, this would be it. The dainty and modest pink baby flowers in the fabric, the photo-locket which to me, represents the promises of God kept close. The single pearl. The gold eagle. The sweet key for the locket, and the pink flower emblem. Photo credit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hollythedolly/4598130487/

And, I'm in a winter-type of mood and switched my Summer bg over to this one, a snowy-ice capped mountain bg. This one kind of reminds me of the vision God gave me maybe one month ago. It was extravagant. High, snow-capped mountains, a very deep blue, with snow mounds just as high, clouds below, and me looking over! Three eagles were flying east, in a triangular shape, with one leading. It was extremely beautiful. I'll never forget that vision. It was so pleasant and hopeful. Great things in store. Photo credit: http://www.kilam-malik.net/text_ray_terragen.html

Yesterday evening I was listening to Amy Grant's, "Count your Blessings" and I began to say aloud, "I am thankful for My God and my salvation." Today I am adding to the list, "My integrity and God's holiness."

Bless You Jesus,
Whitney
